Trona, How I Wish I Could See You

I just got news last night that the Trona 308 bicycle event will not be held in 2015.  I was so looking forward to it.

Trona is a town.  I guess you can call it a town.  It’s just North of Barstow California.  I’m not sure what’s there or who’s there, but it was the midway point for the Trona 308 bike race.  They held it in 2014, so I figured they’d hold in 2015.  It looked like a great way to challenge myself:  308 miles on a bike in less than 30 hours.   I can’t explain why I want to do it.  I guess we’ll have to watch future episodes of TriRiot to find out.

But the endurance sport world is full of challenges and I’ll likely find something closer to home.  There’s the Black and Blue  which is about 200 miles and the Blood, Sweat and Gears which is around 100 miles.  Both of those have some hills which is what I’m looking for.

I’ll just have to visit Trona on my own: and probably in a car.
